Sunderland hope to hear from Tim Cahill today about a proposed loan switch.
The Daily Mail says Sunderland hope to receive an answer from Cahill in the next 24 hours over whether he will join on loan from New York Red Bulls.
The 33-year-old has also attracted interest from QPR and Aston Villa.
