Sunderland hit Wolves for five

Sunderland hit two penalties, threw away a two goal lead and still triumphed 5-2 over visitors Wolves. The Black Cats are now eighth in the Premiership after, despite the scoreline, a hard fought three points against Wolves.

Kenwyne Jones scored twice, one a penalty after Darren Bent had opened the scoring from the spot in the first half.

Then in six second half minutes the game exploded into life.

Sunderland were two goals clear by the 48th minute but a quickfire response from battling Wolves saw them draw level.

Sunderland defender John Mensah chested the ball into his own net before Kevin Doyle restored parity.

Jones restored the home side's lead while Michael Turner sealed victory with a header before Michael Mancienne's own goal gave a flattering look to the result.
