Sunderland have held a round of talks with Schalke striker Kevin Kuranyi.

The Daily Mail says Kuranyi has met Sunderland over a proposed move from Schalke but says they will have to better offers he already has for the summer.

The Germany striker is out of contract then and is known to be seeking a salary of around £3.5million a year.

Birmingham City's manager Alex McLeish has signalled his determination to make a splash in this transfer window by making a £9m offer for Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones.
