Sunderland fullback Phil Bardsley took no joy from his goal in defeat to West Bromwich Albion.
The defeat is Sunderland's seventh in eight games and the defender cut a disconsolate figure after the latest setback.
"It's nice to get on the scoresheet but it doesn't matter given the result," he told safc.com.
"The lads are distraught in the dressing room and we have to pick ourselves up quickly because we need points on the board.
"Everything was comfortable at half time and the lads were enjoying it, but the game became stretched in the second half and at times we were all over the place.
"Confidence is low but we were cruising at 2-1 and two sloppy goals have cost us the win."
