Sunderland are facing a search for a new shirt sponsor for next season.

The Daily Mail says the club's pioneering shirt sponsorship for Invest In Africa, promoting a cause rather than £5m-a-year funding company Tullow Oil, is expected to last only this season despite being announced as a two-year deal at the launch last June.

Sunderland now say it was only ever a one-year agreement with the option of another season, but Tullow are opting out despite the Stadium of Light's commitment to African causes.

This commercial blow leaves Sunderland joining Aston Villa, Tottenham and Fulham in a crowded marketplace looking for new shirt sponsors for the 2013-14 campaign.
