Sunderland have reportedly expressed an interest in Fulham's wantaway forward Clint Dempsey who is also a target for Liverpool. Dempsey has been left out of the Cottagers' first two games after informing boss Martin Jol he did not want to play for the club again.
The 29 year old netted 23 goals in 46 games last season and is believed to command a fee of around £8million.
