Sunderland continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 win over League One neighbours Hartlepool.
A crowd of over 5,000 packed into Victoria Park for Ritchie Humphreys' testimonial and they were rewarded with an entertaining game which saw the home side take the lead before Steve Bruce's side hit back in style.
Newcastle old-boy Nolberto Solano added to his popularity by opening the scoring, finishing off a sweeping move involving Humphreys.
The Black Cats responded with chances for Stephane Sessegnon and Phil Bardsley and levelled after half an hour, Asamoah Gyan heading in Seb Larsson's cross.
Jack Colback put the visitors ahead, hammering a low drive beneath Pools keeper Scott Flinders after latching on to Kieran Richardson's neat pass.
And Larsson rounded off the scoring with a classy low finish after more good play from the impressive Sessegnon.
