Sunderland are planning a swap offer for Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso.

The Daily Star Sunday says they hope to use Modibo Diakite as bait to land Alonso in a permanent deal.

Spanish left-back Alonso, 23, has been a big success since joining on loan from Fiorentina in January.

French centre-back Diakite, 27, headed in the opposite direction at the end of the January window.
