Sunderland defender Michael Turner has shrugged off talk of a late England call.
Ghana captain John Mensah has already said this season his defensive colleague deserves to get a chance to show what he can do at international level, although it seems this summer's World Cup will come to soon for him.
But Turner is a little uncomfortable with all the praise and argued that he still has plenty of room for improvement before he forces his way into Fabio Capello's England plans.
He told The Journal: "It could be something that happens, you never know. I'm just trying to improve myself and look at the areas of my game that I need to work on. There are a lot of good English players in my position so I don't know what is going to happen. I'll just keep trying to play well for Sunderland and if I do get in there I'll be delighted.
"I just want to establish myself as a Premier League player and help this club progress at the moment. I hope the best is yet to come from me. I'm 26 now so hopefully over the next few years I'll be at my peak.
"I do find it difficult to talk about international football. I don't want to get ahead of myself. There have been a few times people have said I've got a chance and that's really nice, but I just want to get my head down and keep playing well here."
