Sunderland defender John O'Shea is delighted reserve-team goalkeeper Keiren Westwood earned a place in the Republic of Ireland's Euros squad.
Westwood, 27, has eight senior international caps to his name and played a crucial role for his country in Euro 2012 qualifying, including making a superb late save to secure a vital victory in a game against Macedonia.
"Believe me, we will have 100% faith on Westy if he is called upon, because he was called upon during the group stages and was fantastic," O'Shea told safc.com.
"We've seen this year that when Keiren has had a run of games in the team he has shown he's more than capable of not only being Sunderland's number one, but a top international keeper too.
"I'm sure that when Shay [Given] decides to call it a day, Westy will be more than ready to step up to the mark and be Ireland's number one.
"He has shown fantastic ability and the mental attitude to be able to cope with those demands."
