Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy admits he chose Sheffield United ahead of a loan move to Portsmouth.

Pompey's financial problems have seen their players' wages paid late four times this season.

Nosworthy said: "That club is in a bad way. There were a few other clubs interested in taking me.

"But, ultimately, it came down to a straight choice between Portsmouth and Sheffield United. And the Blades got my vote because they are a much more stable club."
