Charlton boss Alan Pardew has confirmed his interest in Sunderland defender Paul McShane.

"Players will come in and go out, and we'd like to be on the back end of one deal where we get another defender because I think we're a bit short on experience," he told the club's official website.

"There has been some interest between ourselves and Sunderland. I think he's a good player and there will be a decision on him, perhaps in this window."
