Sunderland defender Billy Jones has backed his teammate keeper Jordan Pickford to captain the Black Cats one day.
The 23-year-old, who is a summer transfer target of some of the major English clubs such as Everton and Manchester City, produced a series of fine saves to lead his team to a 2-0 win at Hull City on Saturday.
Jones, who scored the opening goal in the game, said: "Jordan's showed by consistently performing well in this league how good he is. It's been great to play with him and to see that.
"He's come back [from loan spells] and showed it. He's been consistently performing well within this league. He's a great goalkeeper and we'd love to have him here next year.
"For a supposedly young player he's had a lot of loans and played a lot of football and he's got that experience in dressing rooms that you need. I class him as one of our leaders and he will be a great leader one day, maybe even a captain."
