Gordon is unlikely to be fit for the start of the season but says the pair will remain on great terms even when the battle for a place is joined once again upon his return.
"I get on brilliantly with Simon," the keeper told safc.com. "He has had a great season.
"We're very similar characters. It's great that we have that relationship even though we're competing against each other.
"Of course, we both want to play and when one is in the team the other isn't going to be happy, but it's nothing personal."
