Danny Philpott has been named new assistant academy manager at Sunderland.
Philpott joins the Black Cats from Everton, where he had been the Merseysiders' top talent scout with the title of head of national recruitment.
The Journal says he is due to take up his new role at the Academy of Light at the beginning of December, and will work with Sunderland's existing academy manager Ged McNamee.
Philpott has built an enviable reputation in footballing circles, with several of Everton's academy graduates going on to play at first team level.
