Sunderland are considering a move for AC Milan defender Cristian Zapata, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Despite having landed the services of Jan Kirchhoff from Bayern Munich, Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce is still on the lookout to sign a new central defender in a bid to strengthen his defence that has conceded the most goals (39) in the Premier League after 20 matches.
Reports suggest the Black Cats boss has eyed up a move for Milan's Colombia international Zapata as the defender is keen on a move away from the San Siro in January due to lack of regular first team football under Sinisa Mihajlovic.
