Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is chasing Tottenham striker Peter Crouch.
The Sun says Tottenham will do a deal only if they can recoup the £10m he cost them two years ago.
Bruce wants the experienced striker to help build on Sunderland's top 10 Premier League finish this season.
He has plenty of cash available from the £24m sale of Darren Bent to Aston Villa in January.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is willing to let Crouch, 30, go so he can add to his own squad this summer.
