Sunderland are joining the battle for Le Havre defender Benjamin Mendy.
The Evening Chronicle says Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio is seeking a new left-back signing.
Mendy is a 19-year-old who has been compared in his homeland to former France captain Patrice Evra.
He is a long-term Arsenal target and Lyon and Marseille are also interested.
