Sunderland chairman Ellis Short has addressed fans over their dismal start to the season.
Short has come under fire following Sunderland's poor start to the season.
He writes in today's Sunderland match programme: "I generally prefer not to comment on transfer business until the window has closed, but I wanted to correct some inaccurate figures in relation to our signings as what is published is rarely correct.
“To date, this summer we have committed £21.5 million in transfer fees – this includes the mandatory purchase of Santiago Vergini – and remain hopeful that there is still more business to be done before the window closes on September 1st."
