Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn says caretaker boss Ricky Sbragia is under consideration for the permanent job.
Writing in his programme notes ahead of yesterday's crucial Barclays Premier League clash with West Brom at the Stadium of Light, Quinn said: "One person the Board have not discounted is Ricky Sbragia, who is in charge of the team today.
"Ricky and the staff got a terrific response from the players at Manchester United, and the prevalent feeling at the club is that people are enjoying themselves.
"Who knows, Ricky and the players could make it difficult for us to look elsewhere."
