Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn is pleased with their capture of Cruz Azul midfielder Cristian Riveros.

Riveros joins fellow Paraguay international Paulo da Silva at Sunderland and Quinn is looking forward to seeing the winger in action.

"Without wanting to put too much pressure on him, Cristian is a very talented player with fantastic ability on the ball," he told safc.com. "He will have been to the World Cup by the time he pulls on our shirt and hopefully that will have gone well for him.

"He has his pal, Paulo, here as well and that should be a good help.

"Paulo came here cold it was really the adventure of all adventures for him to come here and uproot his family.

"Paulo really feels like the north east is his home now and he played a big part in persuading Cristian to come here.

"I can't wait to see Cristian have a go and I hope the Sunderland fans take him to their hearts. He is a very committed player with good skill and a bit of craft. I think he will be made to feel very welcome here."
