Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has joked about last week's quit rumours surrounding manager Roy Keane.

He told the Mail on Sunday: "I was in Dublin for a meeting I left my phone in the car and when I came back I'd had 61 missed calls! I didn't even feel the need to ring Roy until the Friday night.

"I rang the team hotel to see how things were going. He picked up the phone and joked: 'How did you know I was here?' The story was off the mark. I've told the fans that if they want to know if something is right or not, we'll tell them officially."
