Sunderland chairman Quinn: I was ready to hand manager's job to someone else

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has revealed he was ready to hand the job to another candidate before making Ricky Sbragia permanent manager.

Sbragia was appointed on an 18-month contract in the face of worldwide applications for the manager's job.

"There was one person that did interest me and his agent asked for £11 million a year," Quinn said. "Gross. And that was the end of that."
