Sunderland boss Sbragia blasts Spurs over Jones move

Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia has dismissed interest from Tottenham for striker Kenwyne Jones.

He said: "There has been an enquiry but Spurs are after every player in the League. As far as I am concerned, there is no price because I need him. If I sell my best players, I would be better going out of the door.

"Kenwyne won't be sold, simple as that. I speak to (Sunderland chairman) Niall Quinn three times a day and he said, 'No go, wasting their time'. We show interest in players but what I don't do is make it public. Tottenham make sure the whole world knows. That's wrong.

"I will not sell players to teams around us. If it was AC Milan or Real Madrid I would have to think about that and if someone comes in the summer, who knows?

"I would never leak anything out. It's not right. They unsettled Stewart Downing, although he didn't show it against us on Saturday. But if Stewart Downing is worth £17m, offer that - not one or two."
