Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce is eager to offload two of his fullbacks.
The Evening Chronicle says Allardyce is looking to move right-back Adam Matthews out on loan to the Championship to make space for new signings, and would ideally like to cancel DeAndre Yedlin's loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
Matthews joined in the summer but, hampered by injuries, has made next to no impact at the Stadium of Light.
His only start came in the League Cup, and he has made only one appearance from the bench in the Premier League.
United States international Yedlin has started ten times this season, but has also struggled to impress.
