Sunderland boss Gus Poyet won't isolate wantaway midfielder Cabral.
The Swiss midfielder failed to get a move away from Sunderland in August.
"It's clear that Cabral had a few options, but in the end they couldn't finalise (anything)," said Poyet.
"It looked like he was going to go somewhere, but he's under contract.
"When these situations arise, I don't think it's right to make someone responsible.
"We signed the player for a reason.
"Then it doesn't work under the new manager, but you're not going to put a gun to his head and say 'leave the football club'."
