Sunderland boss Poyet forced to wait for Van Aanholt assessment

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is reluctant to be put a timescale on Patrick van Aanholt's return.

The defender was stretchered off in the latter stages of the first half during Sunderland's 3-1 win at Crystal Palace.

He was taken straight to hospital with a dislocated shoulder but travelled back with the team to the north east.

"Patrick has a dislocated shoulder so we just need to wait and see the damage, really," Poyet said afterwards.

"It is back in position and we are looking to check it in the next couple of days and then from there we will give information about how long it will take."
