Sunderland boss Martin O'Neil won't start Fraizer Campbell tonight against Norwich City.
There will be a clamour for him to start, especially after the club's pursuit of Bolton's Kevin Davies proved unsuccessful, and with O'Neill believing summer signings Connor Wickham and Ji Dong Won have plenty of learning to do.
However, the Sunderland boss said: "I am delighted with Fraizer, and the crowd were too. He gave us all an immediate lift and more energy and got the goal after a long, long time out.
"Campbell could be fit. He has had a major boost from getting the goal and is a wee bit tired, which is understandable.
"It is a matter of easing him in, but he has had some playing time, which is so, so important. We are delighted to have him in the fold.
"We all hope in the next couple of seasons he can steer clear of injuries.""They tell me he had [just] one day out of 500 out injured when he felt really down and felt it was really difficult. The rest of time he has been absolutely fantastic.
