Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is chasing Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady.
The People says O'Neill hopes to get the cash backing from Black Cats owner Ellis Short for summer signings - with former Celtic winger McGeady high on his wanted list. The Irishman, 26, plans to quit Moscow this summer - with his contract running down and his personal plans including a return to Britain.
Wigan failed to persuade McGeady to catch a flight to join them in the last hours of the January transfer window, but O'Neill hopes he will now commit to Sunderland.
