Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill isn't expected to be put off signing Aiden McGeady.
The Journal says O'Neill knows that the Spartak Moscow player is miles better than he showed for the Republic of Ireland during their three defeats.
McGeady is eyeing a returning to the UK and has also been linked with Paul Lambert's Aston Villa.
