Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill feels Manchester United will want the title wrapped up before a final day trip to Wearside.
O'Neill recognises City must first keep the pressure on United by winning at Arsenal on Sunday, with United facing a home fixture against QPR earlier in the afternoon.
O'Neill said: "Even though United have their noses in front, they still wouldn't want to come to the last game of the season having to win away from home to clinch the title.
"They've done it before, but having to come to the Stadium of Light, where we have a good home record, would be difficult, just like City facing an awkward trip to Newcastle a week earlier.
"If City can beat Arsenal and it comes down to them winning the Manchester derby and having something to play for in the remaining games - and that is very possible - then the two games in the North-East in May could be crucial."
