Sunderland boss O'Neill insists Graham, Fletcher can play together

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is confident striker Steven Fletcher and new signing Danny Graham can play together.

O'Neill admits it is a work in progress.

He said: "It will take a bit of time, and Danny will improve as the two of them begin to get a proper understanding. He says himself that, because he hasn't played a great deal this season in comparison to last season.

"He might need a game or two to get his match fitness, but there were good signs.

"It gives us a chance to play a bit differently, with some support for Steven. I think he needed some help closer to him, and the chance when he hit the post was exactly the way I want them to work together."
