Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill denies being a "cheap skate" in the summer market.
So far, Sunderland have only added Bosmans Louis Saha and Carlos Cuellar.
"I don't think I've ever cheap-skated when it comes to buying players. I was accused some time ago of paying well over the odds for Ashley Young, and £9million was an awful lot for us to pay for a kid from Watford but I don't mind paying over the odds here if this person is value for money. That's fine and that's what I'm thinking about," insisted O'Neill.
