Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is confident Simon Mignolet will stay.
Despite being linked with Arsenal and Manchester United in January, O'Neill has already had discussions with Mignolet over the possibility of a new deal.
"Before I heard about the story Simon came to see me and said it was not the case and that it had been lost in translation," he said.
"It seemed to boil down to the fact that his adversary on loan at Atletico Madrid from Chelsea is playing in a better team and with respect to us they are better than us at this moment in time.
"If the gist of it was that Atletico Madrid are better than Sunderland then I am not too sure I would disagree with that and it is not a major problem. It is our job to make we are as good as them."
