Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill doesn't want Lee Cattermole to change his style.

O'Neill has been left tearing his hair out by Cattermole's indiscipline but does not expect his skipper to change his ways.

He said: "Cattermole will not have grown up when he is 40.

"My acerbic wit has not stopped him from being suspended.

"Will he change a great deal? Unfortunately not.

"But I like Cattermole, I do like him.

"The one thing about Lee is that he wants to play everybody's shot for them. He wants to do everything. He wants to take the ball off the back four, join in everything.

"Actually, deep down, he is a decent lad although he doesn't always show it. He really is a decent lad."
