Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill believes young gun James McClean must change his playing style if he is to continue to progressing as a quality winger.
The 22-year old has emerged on the scene this season with some brilliant performances for the Black Cats but more recently his influence has been quelled by opposition defences who have begun to mark him more closely.
O'Neill is aware of this and feels that McClean may need to alter his game to deal with the newfound attention.
"There's always someone doubling up on him so we have to see if a) we can get some help to him and b) see where the space is after that. This is all new to him and it's come so quickly for him.
"A day like Saturday (against Wolves), when he has got two men on him, is absolutely as important as the good days.
"If James has two players on him, then there has to be someone free for us and we have to try and work that one and help James out.""With James, we will have to develop that part of the game because he's now a marked man," he said.
