Sunderland boss Keane unfazed by £37M outlay

Sunderland boss Roy Keane says he isn't fazed after spending over £37 million on 12 players this summer.

"It doesn't feel as though we have spent a lot of money, because we have had to buy so many players," he said. "It might be different if we had signed a couple of £10 million players on 60 grand a week. We had to buy a lot of players because the whole squad needed an overhaul, but there is no extra pressure - it's always there, simply to try to be successful.

"You have to be comfortable spending decent money, but I don't lose any sleep over it and I'm happy with players at the club. There is never a guarantee that they'll settle and gel, it is just about trying to get everyone together. Just like last year, the situation isn't ideal, but that's up to me to sort out, to make sure the scouting is tip-top and we aren't gambling too much, but you are never guaranteed anyway. Sometimes the bargains are the best deals; that's the beauty of football."
