Sunderland boss Keane regrets Shearer clash

Sunderland boss Roy Keane admits he regrets trying to thump Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer.

Keane was sent off after swinging wildly at Shearer when Manchester United lost 4-3 in September 2001.

It is a moment he will be taunted about today by the home fans and Keane said: "It's something I wish hadn't happened - I reacted and got sent off. But it's not a defining moment in my life. I was disappointed. As much as I'd let myself down I let my team-mates down as well."
