Sunderland boss Keane to make playing comeback

Sunderland boss Roy Keane could make a playing comeback this preseason.

The Sunday Sun says Kendal Town believe they may be able to lure Keane out of playing retirement.

The Unibond Premier League club are hosting Sunderland in a pre-season friendly on August 13.

And the presence in the Kendal side of one of Keane's oldest friends in football has raised hopes of the Black Cats boss pulling his boots back on.

Kendal's commercial manager Paul Maclennan revealed: "'Killer' (Ian Kilford) is an old buddy of Roy's from when they used to be at Nottingham Forest in the youth team.

"They even used to share a room at Forest, so it would be appropriate if they could meet up again."
