Sunderland boss Roy Keane is set to be handed a staggering £50 million transfer warchest.

The Sunday Express says Keane will launch another spending spree - despite splashing out around £45m in his first 12 months in charge.

Chairman Niall Quinn and Keane are determined to safeguard the Black Cats' Premier League status.

And Quinn confirmed: "We're looking ahead to the transfer window reopening in January. I will do everything we can to make sure Roy gets the signatures he wants.

"The January window is likely to be more use to us than the summer one was because we'll have had more of a run at it.

"Player recruitment is everything."
