Sunderland boss Keane admits transfer plans ongoing

After defeat at Wigan Athletic, Sunderland boss Roy Keane admits he's returning to the market this week.

Keane has already spent £27million in a bid to add enough depth and quality to the Sunderland squad to keep them in the Premier League, but with Carlos Edwards, Grant Leadbitter and now captain Dean Whitehead out injured, there could be more signings before the transfer window closes.

"We were looking at that anyway, likes lots of clubs, but that's not a knee-jerk reaction to this defeat," Keane said. "We definitely need a bigger, stronger squad.

"With Deano getting injured and Grant missing, it gives other players an opportunity, and some take that, some don't."
