Sunderland boss Roy Keane has admitted his interest in Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell.

Keane said: "Steve Sidwell is a good player but we are looking at lots of players and it would be unfair to comment on individuals. We have got a few targets who we have made enquiries about.

"A lot will depend on how much they cost because while I have got a few bob to spend I don't want to be paying silly money. I know I have got to try and wheel and deal and generate sales as well.

"We need extra help in defensive positions and if we do bring in players they will be good, experienced internationals who we can put straight into the Premier League."
