Sunderland boss Di Canio worried about Hong Kong pitch

Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio has concerns over the pitch in Hong Kong today.

Sunderland, Manchester City and Tottenham all face nightmare conditions in the Barclays Asia Trophy in the national stadium.

Heavy rain has continued in the 48 hours since Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen sprained ankle ligaments - an injury which rules him out for three weeks - on the pitch.

Di Canio, whose Black Cats side face City in the final, said: "Of course I'm worried about the safety of my players. It's a killer pitch in this weather."

Tottenham play South China in the third-place play-off and Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas said: "I'd prefer not to go ahead but we are professional.

"Player safety is much more important than a pre-season game."
