Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio has concerns over the pitch in Hong Kong today.
Heavy rain has continued in the 48 hours since Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen sprained ankle ligaments — an injury which rules him out for three weeks — on the pitch.
Di Canio, whose Black Cats side face City in the final, said: “Of course I’m worried about the safety of my players. It’s a killer pitch in this weather.”
Tottenham play South China in the third-place play-off and Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas said: “I’d prefer not to go ahead but we are professional.
“Player safety is much more important than a pre-season game.”
