Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio wants to sign permanently Tottenham fullback Danny Rose.

The Daily Star says Di Canio has been impressed by the £5m-rated England Under-21 full-back, who is on a season-long loan from Tottenham.

Di Canio is keen to make the 22-year-old's stay permanent, and would love to see the Yorkshireman back at the Stadium of Light again next season.
