Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio admits a tag of him 'managing by hand grenade' hasn't helped him.
Di Canio endured a losing Premier League debut at Chelsea on Sunday.
He reflected: "It's a label that doesn't help me, to be honest. In some ways it has caused some problems for me in the past.
"The fact is I brought success to Swindon for 21 months. I don't know if you can call it a hand-grenade.
"If you are very quiet, if you are 100 per cent a diplomatic person and you don't want to cope with any problem, probably you are never going to have success. Managers like Jose Mourinho in some way are a hand-grenade, not because in the way he expresses his opinion, but he brings success as well.
"I'm not a hand-grenade manager, I'm a Paolo Di Canio manager. The club don't have to be worried because we are going to have success.''
