Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio is ready to offload club captain Lee Cattermole.

The Mirror says Cattermole, who captained the club last season, has been told he can go as he no longer fits into Di Canio's long-term plans.

Di Canio is determined to improve the quality of the squad - but will have to sell before he can buy and Cattermole, 25, is likely to be the biggest casualty.
