Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio says he cannot afford to risk Mikael Mandron in their relegation battle.
With Sunderland just five points above the relegation zone and with their top-flight status still hanging in the balance, Di Canio prefers to put his faith in experience.
The Italian said: “Mandron trained with us during the week and he has been on the bench.
“He is a player with promise and sometimes you can use him.
“However, we are at a crucial moment of the season and, as much as I can, I would like to keep the players with pedigree and experience in there.
“Mandron is still young, though, and you never know what might happen.”
