Paolo Di Canio will do what he can to retain the services of Simon Mignolet at Sunderland.

The Belgian goalkeeper has become the clubs undisputed number one in recent times, prompting interest from Arsenal, but Di Canio is determined to keep him in a Black Cats shirt.

"I want to build something here at Sunderland and take the club forward - that is my mission. So the last thing I want to do is to let any of our quality players leave," he told the Sunderland Echo.

"Simon is a top class goalkeeper. He's very important to us."
