Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio has invited fans to say 'hello' when they see him at the local supermarket.

The new Stadium of Light boss wants to chat to supporters and the Italian food shelves would be the perfect meeting place.

Former Swindon chief Di Canio said: "I'm a normal person, not a star who doesn't want to integrate himself with others.

"At Swindon I would go out to Waitrose to buy food - I'm a good chef - and I used to meet people.

"I would speak with them all the time.

"They would say 'hello' and would find I am a normal person. So Sunderland fans can look forward to seeing me in the supermarket - and then they'll discover the real Paolo Di Canio."
