Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio has confirmed he gestured to chairman Ellis Short during victory over Everton.
The Italian twice pointed to Short for the win.
"It was a gesture of respect because of the decision he made," Di Canio said. "To make the decision he made a few weeks ago, with all the turbulence that happened, it wasn't easy because it reflected on him.
"I pointed at everybody, to the fans in general, but at the end, I said thanks to him because I know what it means to make a decision at this level. I'm never going to forget this, even if he sacks me tomorrow morning."
